Learning Objectives:

• Define sexual assault and legal classifications
• Understand gender differences in symptom presentation and intervention
• Identify and address acute and chronic sexual assault trauma symptoms
• Identify and address secondary trauma symptoms in client, client support system, and therapist
• Teach client to manage trauma symptoms, re-establish self-control, and resume activities of daily living
• Identify and address self-defeating behaviors and co-occurring conditions
• Advocate and empower client through interface with community and social networks

This seminar addresses the assessment and treatment of sexual assault trauma resulting from forcible sexual assault, including rape.
